Certified Peer Specialists serve adults 18 years and older who have a serious mental illness and have a moderate to serve functional impairment that interferes with or limits performance in at least one of the following areas: educational, social, vocational or self-maintenance.
Certified Peer Specialists provide education and support to help individuals develop, implement and maintain wellness in their personal journey of recovery.
Services are provided by individuals who have experienced mental illness first-hand. A Certified Peer Specialist is someone who is grounded in their recovery and has gone through specialized training and testing to earn their certification. They are especially qualified to inspire hope and provide unique support to individuals receiving mental health services because of their life experience with mental illness and mental health services.
Certified Peer Specialists model recovery and resiliency in overcoming obstacles common to those who live with serious mental illness and help identify goals that promote recovery and resiliency.
