COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WORKERS: Northeast Counseling Services has an exciting opportunity for a Behavioral Health Worker to provide services to children, adolescents and their families within a school setting. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary treatment team collaborating and participating with school staff, outside agencies, and families/guardians. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university and at least two years of experience in a PA CASSP system. Generous benefit package is offered, inclusive of health insurance, 401k, leave time and life insurance. DATA PROCESSING WORKER: Full-time Data Processing Worker needed in our Hazleton location. Full-time Data Processing Coordinator position needed in our Hazleton location. The position requires a high school diploma plus formal training in computer operations, knowledge of the mechanics, and terminology of the center.It is preferred that the individual have some understanding of mental health services and/or related human service delivery. Benefit package offered includes healthcare insurance, 401K, life insurance, and paid leave time.

LIABILITY SPECIALIST: Northeast Counseling Services is looking for a qualified individual to obtain, calculate and process financial liability information according to state regulations and update annually, or as needed, for people who have a mental illness. This position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. The qualified candidate will possess basic computer skills and have good communication skills.

MOBILE CRISIS WORKER: The Mobile Worker On-Call (COC) provides in person assessment and intervention for adults, adolescences and children experiencing psychiatric emergencies in the Northeast Counseling service area (Luzerne County, PA) when phone intervention by the Emergency Worker is not adequate, during non-working hours of the center. The Mobile Worker can provide intervention either individually or as a team based on the presenting problem and individual need of the client.

Must possess a working knowledge of the philosophy, concepts, mandates and operations of community health services and other human services agencies. They must have a knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and be proficient in writing and verbal communication skills.


  • Have a bachelor’s degree with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education or a related field.
  • Be a registered nurse.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other social science and 2 years of experience in public or private human services with 1 year of mental health direct care experience.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency and 3 years of mental health direct care experience in public or private human services with employment as a mental health staff person prior January 1, 1992.
  • Be a consumer or a family member who has 1 year of experience as an advocate or leader in a consumer or family group, and has a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Staff persons employed by a provider who have 5 years experience as a supervisor of mental health services in a mental health agency prior to January 1, 1992, are exempted from this section.

PSYCHOTHERAPISTS/ CLINICIANS: Northeast Counseling Services is currently seeking motivated, recovery-oriented therapists to work as a part of our outpatient multidisciplinary treatment team providing care to adults and children. As part of the team, the successful candidate will provide services to individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders.These positions offer a flexible work schedule for both full-time and part-time hours. Opportunities are available in Nanticoke as well as Hazleton. Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in a clinical discipline. Bachelor’s level staff will be considered based on experience.

REGISTERED NURSE: Northeast Counseling Services is currently seeking an applicant to become part of our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing services within the community to individuals diagnosed with a mental health disorder. This position requires an RN license in the state of Pennsylvania. Experience is preferred, but not required. This full time opportunity offers a competitive salary, health benefits, leave time and a 401k plan.

REHABILITATION AND VOCATION SPECIALIST : Northeast Counseling Services currently has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Rehabilitation and Vocation Specialist. The successful candidate will provide counseling rehabilitation services through an aggressive Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) Team outreach approach in the consumer’s community. The position requires a Master’s Degree in rehabilitation counseling from an accredited college or university. RESIDENTIAL WORKERS: Currently seeking a Residential Worker for our Personal Care Home. The individual provides residents assistance with activities of daily living, medication monitoring, and financial budgeting. The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, and a desire to work in human services. It also requires unshakable commitment to, and belief in, the value and dignity of the human individual. Acceptable character and work references from previous employer(s)/ school(s)/ nurse’s aide program are also necessary prerequisites to employment.

STUDENT ASSISTANCE WORKER: The Student Assistance Worker works with the Hazleton School District (and other districts as assigned) school personnel to help identify students who may need mental health services.They meet with identified at-risk students to assess their needs. They may refer for services directly or attempt to resolve the problem with brief supportive counseling. They also act as liaisons with the school for students in treatment. 
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university. The individual should possess a thorough knowledge of professional casework principles; knowledge of the principles and methods of community organization; the ability to work effectively with adults, adolescents, and children; effective oral and written communication skills; and a working knowledge of the philosophy, concepts,mandates and operation of community mental health services.

VAN DRIVER: Seeking a per-diem van driver providing transportation to and from our Psychiatric Rehabilitation program in the Lehighton area. Various hours in the AM and PM. Flexible with availability and work schedule. Van driver applicant must have a clean driving record and a PA Driver's License.
